The 76084 Locomotive Company has recently produced a specially commissioned limited edition print entitled “EDEN VALLEY STANDARD”

This print has been taken from a watercolour painting by John Wigston GRA. Despite only being on sale for a few weeks the print has received much critical acclaim.

The picture depicts 76084 piloting an Ivatt Class 4 on a westbound train departing from Kirkby Stephen East Station in the late 1950's. This combination of locomotives was typical on this former NER line between Darlington & Tebay. The train has just come over the Pennines & the stop at Kirkby Stephen would have provided a welcome break for the hard worked footplate crews. With gradients as steep as 1 in 59 most trains were either double headed or banked to Stainmore Summit. That isolated spot was 1,370 feet above sea level & was the highest point on any main line in England Spectacular structures were a feature of the route with Belah Viaduct being the most magnificent. That viaduct was the highest in England standing 196 feet above the valley floor as well as being over 1,000 feet long!

The picture is 545mm x 365mm with an additional 65mm border, the print is given free to all shareholders.

If you wish to purchase one or more of these prints they cost £9.99 each

As the limited edition prints of 'Eden Valley Standard' by J E Wigston GRA dwindle in number a Lancashire pencil artist, Duncan Armstrong, was commissioned by shareholder Eric Bond to do a drawing of 76084. Duncan is a keen railway fan and also a member of the Guild of Railway Artists (GRA) which boasts a number of famous names in its ranks.

Working only with the Appeal Leaflet in front of him (after permission was obtained from the photographer, Maurice Burns) he has produced a real work of art showing 76084 exiting Crosby-Garret Tunnel on the S & C. He has agreed that prints can be made from it and sold to raise funds. Furthermore, he has agreed to sign and number the prints free of any charge as a gesture towards 76084's restoration.

When the prints were obtained a debate as to how many to have in the limited edition was held in Duncan's Padiham kitchen which lasted quite some time. Too many in the run makes them less valuable - too few and not enough funds are raised. So we settled on 260 being the wheel arrangement of 76084 if you put hyphens between the numbers.

Cost: (Print only - A4 in size) £10 + £1.50 p&p : (Framed Prints - approximately 370mm wide by 340mm high) £25 +4.50 p&p.
